Case
Study # 1
Part
Name: BD601T body
Material:
Brass
Challenge:
To minimize cost on an annual quantity of 10,000 pcs while maintaining
precise relative locations of features on a complex part.
Solution:
Originally, this part was produced on a transfer line that consisted
of 6 separate operations and took over two minutes per piece, producing
parts barely within tolerance because of the inherent inaccuracy
of multiple- chucking operations.
We produce this part on the Tsugami CNC Swiss screw machine complete
in one operation with a cycle time of under 60 seconds. Tolerances
are held even tighter than specified, improving the performance
of our customer's device. The cycle time is minimized by taking
full advantage of the Tsugami's powerful control and its ability
to do simultaneous machining of multiple features.
