CNC
Milling
Our CNC milling department consists of 4 vertical machining centers
and one horizontal machining
center.
These are larger, powerful, robust machines with the rigidity
required to achieve excellent surface finishes in challenging
materials like cast iron and stainless steel, the torque necessary
to hog away large amounts of aluminum in high-volume, high-speed
operations, and the precision of modern state-of-the-art equipment,
with repeatability of ± .0002.
With
travels of 30" by 16", we can machine large parts, or
we can machine large quantities of smaller parts by using multiple-part
fixturing. Parts can be milled from a solid block, or we can machine
critical surfaces on castings. With DNC from our CAD-CAM system,
4th axis machining, and rigid tapping, there's virtually no limit
to the complexity of what can be machined.
Our
VMCs frequently run jobs between 500 and 5000 pcs; the HMC is
better suited to larger quantity jobs, up to 500,000 pcs, depending
upon the nature of the work. Please see case
studies numbers 2, 5, and 8 for examples of our work in CNC
milling.
